FAQ
The Octopodd system is a training tool designed to engage mechanisms during practice that are similar or even identical to those encountered in the field, thanks to innovative functions that allow you to work on:
- Perception
- Attention
- Comprehension
- Decision-making aspects
- Analytical and judgment capacity
It also allows for the integration of movement by projecting light bases onto the ground, offering a wide range of possible scenarios. The different functions aim to minimize the gap between the field and the shooting range as much as possible.

The system operates on a local network. An Internet connection is only necessary for updates and to send user videos to their account.
The system can be powered in two ways:
-
USB connection (equivalent to a phone charger)
-
Rechargeable battery pack
The Octopodd system has 8 articulated arms, allowing shooting scenarios for 1 to 8 people simultaneously in simple scenarios. However, some scenarios require the use of more lasers, which limits the number of shooters who can shoot at the same time. In summary, the more lasers allocated to one person, the fewer shooters can use the system simultaneously.
In certain lighting conditions, the lasers may be difficult to perceive (e.g., broad daylight on white-colored targets). Therefore, we recommend its use in indoor ranges or only in low-light conditions outdoors.
-
Scenarios: Using its articulated arms equipped with visible lasers, the system allows the creation of scenarios aimed at working on aspects related to observation, decision-making, as well as analytical and judgment capacity. The lasers turn on or off based on elapsed time or the number of rounds fired.
-
Performance Analysis: The system takes into account the speed of shots and determines if a shooter has used their weapon outside the allotted time or more than necessary (number of shots fired). These data are recorded and are automatically available in graphical form. The observer can also film the performance for analysis and debriefing, with real-time display of times and errors made.
-
Movement: The Octopodd system can project lasers onto the ground to indicate where the shooter should move. This feature allows working on movement within the context of shooting, in correlation with observation ability.
-
Exercices (drills): Many exercises (drills) are already preloaded in the dedicated application, allowing you to work on a multitude of technical shooting aspects (fundamentals, movements, displacements), ideal for training or instructing.
The Octopodd system has been designed to be easy to use and install. The interface is intuitive, and the user has instant access to various features. Installation does not require special equipment, but we recommend a tripod to place it at height or to fix it to a wall using Velcro strips, for example. Once the system is turned on, anyone with a device (phone, tablet, computer) can access the application by simply scanning a QR code. Finally, the laser calibration tool allows you to point them at the targets, and the system is ready for use.
In addition to the built-in scenarios in the application, a dedicated interface allows users to create custom scenarios. The user can select which lasers will be activated, define their activation order, and choose the types of lighting and extinction sequences (based on time or the number of cartridges fired). It is also possible to include random parameters to generate a unique scenario each time.
